Our Community
Growing Together.
When our farm grows, our community should grow with it. Alongside the estate, Nature Nest is developing plans to support the farmers, families and children of the surrounding villages.
Our vision
We are not just growing a farm. We are working towards growing opportunities for an entire community.
Nature Nest is not intended to benefit only its owners and visitors.
The long-term vision is a financially sustainable rural enterprise that contributes to the surrounding farming communities and to the education of local children. We believe farming, responsible tourism and social progress can support one another — and that a working farm is a good place to show it.
These programmes are in the planning stage. Throughout this website we distinguish clearly between our aspirations, our proposed programmes and anything that is actually operating — which, today, is none of them.
Our commitment
How we intend to work with surrounding communities.
Positive, respectful and practical — built on dignity, potential and partnership.
- Listen firstProgrammes will be shaped by what farmers, families and schools tell us they need — not by assumptions.
- Work alongside local peopleRespecting local knowledge, languages and leadership, and treating every participant with dignity.
- Be transparentClearly separating what is planned from what is happening, and reporting honestly on both.
- Start small, grow responsiblyBeginning with practical pilots and expanding only when there is evidence and capacity.
The programmes
Six ways we hope to give back.
Each programme has its own page explaining what we intend, what we will not promise, and how to register interest.

ExploreIntegrated Farming Education
Simple, locally appropriate explanations of how crops, animals, water and compost can work together.
ExploreFarmer Connect — Direct Market Opportunities
A proposed initiative to connect participating farmers with suitable buyers, transparently and fairly.
ExploreGrowing Young Minds — Children’s Education

ExploreCommunity Support & Future Funding

ExplorePartnerships & Collaboration

ExploreIntegrated farming education
Farming knowledge, shared simply.
“Integrated farming brings different agricultural activities together so that resources, knowledge and by-products can be used more efficiently. Our vision is to help local farmers explore practical, locally appropriate methods that improve productivity while caring for the land.”
Training content will be developed with appropriately qualified agricultural professionals — not every method suits every farm.

- 5Stage 5

Measuring community impact
Transparent reporting, when there is something real to report.
Future impact reporting will aim to provide transparent updates on activities and outcomes. We will not publish any figures until they are supported by verified records.
Indicators we expect to report on
No figures are shown because no programmes are operating yet.
Is Nature Nest a charity?
No. Nature Nest Eco Farm is not currently a registered charity, NGO or government-approved development organisation. Our community programmes are planned initiatives under the Nature Nest brand.
Can I donate?
Not at this stage. We are not accepting donations, payments or financial contributions. If you would like to support our community initiatives in future, please register your interest — no payment details are requested.
When will the programmes start?
We have not set dates. Programmes will begin only when the right partnerships, expertise, safeguards and resources are in place. We will share real news on our development updates page.
Who will be able to take part?
Eligibility has not yet been decided. Our focus is on farmers, families and schools in and around Nedunkulam and the wider Vavuniya District. Information about eligibility will be published before any programme opens.
How will children be protected?
Before any activity involving children begins, appropriate safeguarding policies, supervision, parental or guardian consent and child-data protection procedures will be put in place. See our safeguarding commitment.
Will information be available in Tamil and Sinhala?
That is our intention, particularly for farmer and community programmes. Translations will be prepared and reviewed by people who speak the languages fluently, rather than published as unreviewed machine translations.
